Building Conservation Advice

There are key principles in building conservation. You need to be mindful of the impact your decisions will make on your property in the long-term. We are only custodians of these buildings, whether listed or not, they all hold historical value.

An older property will probably have had little intervention during its lifetime. Consider continuing the practice of ‘minimum intervention’ and repair what is only necessary, using like-for-like materials.

Think about the materials you plan to use. If the material is harder, stronger and less breathable than the building fabric you plan to introduce it to, that is the quickest way to degrade building fabric and introduce damp.
